Original c.1937 Arancil Brown Mascara Cake With Original Brush
Beaufully deco, this original Arancil mascara cake, in the shade brown, dates back to 1937.
Founded in 1935, Arcancil results from a partnership between a chemist and a hair dyer, the Havlick brothers. Based on their hair dying skills, the name ARCANCIL was an obvious reference to the large choice offered by the rainbow colours.
Condition: The mascara cake and brush show signs of some use. The graphics on the box are beautifully art deco, with the colours remaining vibrant. There is some slight foxing to the box, and the hinge of the box is starting to rip away from the box.
Measurements: The box measures 7cm/ 2.7'' in length, and 3.5cm/ 1.3'' in width, with a height of 1cm. The Mascara cake itself measures 6.5cm/2.5'' in length and 1.3cm/.5'' in width. The Brush measures
Fun Fact: The Duchess of Parma, Napoleon’s second wife Maria Louise of Austria, is often associated with the demand for violet fragrances and perfumers of that time pioneered the extraction of the violet flower’s scent in the early 1800's.
